Job description

Production OperatorThe Production Operator is responsible for operating equipment and processes used in the manufacturing and packaging of specialty chemical products. This position ensures products are manufactured safely, accurately, and according to established quality standards. Responsibilities include operating production equipment, handling raw materials, maintaining production records, performing quality checks, and supporting a safe and organized work environment.Production Operators may work at various skill levels, with opportunities to learn additional equipment, processes, and leadership responsibilities.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManufacturing and ProductionFollow established operating procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelinesOperate production, packaging, and processing equipment safely and efficientlyHandle, prepare, and transfer raw materials and chemicals according to established proceduresMonitor equipment performance and identify operational issuesOperate reactors and processing equipment as assigned and qualifiedPackage products in various container sizes according to production requirementsLabel, inspect, and prepare finished products for shipmentLoad pallets, fill totes, and stage materials for transportationUnload materials and assist with receiving activities as neededQuality and DocumentationMaintain accurate production records and documentationPerform product quality checks and basic testing proceduresVerify products meet quality and regulatory requirementsFollow food safety, quality assurance, and compliance standards where applicableAssist in identifying root causes of safety, quality, or production issuesEquipment and MaintenanceOperate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safelyPerform minor equipment maintenance and routine calibrations as assignedAssist with troubleshooting equipment issuesClean production equipment, containers, drums, and totes as requiredSafety and HousekeepingFollow all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirementsMaintain clean, organized, and safe work areasParticipate in safety, quality, environmental, and operational training programsDemonstrate a commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvementTeamwork and SupportWork effectively with production, warehouse, shipping, maintenance, and quality teamsTrain and assist other team members as skills and experience increaseManage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentPerform additional duties as assignedQualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or GEDPrevious forklift operating experienceBasic math skills, including arithmetic calculationsBasic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to read, understand, and follow written instructions and proceduresAbility to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writingAbility to work overtime and weekends as needed, sometimes on short noticeReliable attendance and punctualityPreferredExperience in manufacturing, chemical processing, production, packaging, or industrial operationsBilingual English/Spanish skillsExperience working with quality systems, safety programs, or regulated manufacturing environmentsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and climb ladders throughout the workdayAbility to use hands and fingers for equipment operation and material handlingAbility to lift and move up to 55 pounds (25 kilograms)Ability to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipmentAbility to perform close and distance visual inspections with or without corrective lensesWork EnvironmentManufacturing and production facility environmentRegular exposure to production equipment, machinery, forklifts, and moving vehiclesWork performed both indoors and outdoorsExposure to varying weather conditions, temperatures, and environmental conditionsNoise levels range from moderate to occasionally high depending on production activitiesCareer Growth OpportunitiesProduction Operators may have opportunities to advance by developing skills in:Equipment operation and troubleshootingProduction reactor operationsQuality control processesTraining and mentoring team membersInventory and material managementProcess improvement initiativesThis position offers growth opportunities for individuals interested in building a long-term career in manufacturing and production operations.
