Job description

Production Services- Grinder Operator - 2nd ShiftThe Grind Operator is responsible for preparing and processing meat according to daily production schedules and specifications. This role includes verifying meat types, weights, and grind sizes, operating grinding equipment, entering production data into the appropriate system, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met throughout the process. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, follow strict GMP and safety protocols, and be willing to cross-train and support other positions or departments as needed.Responsibilities:Review and verify the schedule/cards for the production day. This includes reviewing all pertinent information during shift changeKnow and understand meat types and grind sizeVerify meat weight, date, and type constantly to match the schedule needsFollow grinding procedures as outlined in production formulationDocument all process and productivity informationEnter product information on the AX system and report any issuesAssemble and disassemble equipment as needed for wash down or bone collector inspectionsStop production line as needed to seek immediate attention to correct any problemsKeep area clean, sanitary and follow safety work practices such as and GMP'sMeet with supervisor at the end of the dayBe willing to be cross trained within department to cover other positions successfully when neededOther duties as assigned, which includes in other departments depending on the seasonRequirements:To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorilyMust be able to assimilate to the team and willing to learn every job in the area successfullyAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos in EnglishMust have basic mathematical skillsCapable of regularly lifting and /or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift or move up to 75 lbsAbility to work on production floor; a wet, cold, and loud environmentPrevious food manufacturing experience a plusCompany Overview:Kayem Foods is a family owned and operated craft meat business that has been making New England's favorite franks, sausages, and prepared meats in Chelsea, Mass. since its founding by Kaz Monkiewicz back in 1909. The listed salary range represents Kayem Foods' good faith estimate for this position and represents the minimum and maximum for new hire pay ranges. Ranges are reviewed on a regular basis. An employee's rate of pay within the range is determined by their qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated performance over time. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued wage growth. This position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package and is eligible for an annual wage review. Kayem Foods complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
