Job description
Exhibition CarpenterResponsibilities:Assists carpenters with fabricating, delivering and installing of custom exhibition casework, museum cabinetry and fixturesBuilds blocks, risers, and performs upholstery to display artworkAssists painters in preparation and painting museum spaces: touch-up, prime and paint walls, ceiling, panels, trim, doors, etc.Assists in loading and storing of materials and display caseworkInstalls didactic panels, banners and other graphic signs inside the Museum spacesHelps with shop clean-up and keeps all the tools lubricated and organizedPerform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basisPerforms other duties as assignedSkills, Knowledge and Abilities:Must have entry level carpentry and painting skillsOperating various hand tools, measuring tape and basic equipment used to complete carpentry duties, including drill, hand saw, and other tools used for measuring, cutting, fastening, and drillingAbility to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical taskMust be able to work at heights and to lift up to 75 lbsMust be detail oriented and have good organizational skillsMust have valid drivers license and good driving recordAbility to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a teamCapable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible mannerPrefer candidate who has own transportation and is willing to use it for occasional errands (the museum reimburses for mileage)Education and Experience:1 year experience with cabinetry, laminates and installations, trim outPrevious experience with paintingWall framing and drywall experience a plusEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
