Job description

Production SpecialistQXO is a leading distributor and installer of building products serving an $800 billion market. The company is targeting $50 billion in annual revenue within the decade through accretive acquisitions and organic growth.The Production Specialist supports manufacturing and production operations by assisting in the cutting, assembly, and handling of building materials. This role plays a key part in ensuring products are produced accurately, safely, and efficiently. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment.Produce building products according to work orders, layouts, and specificationsRead and interpret production paperwork, blueprints, and measuring tools to ensure accuracyMeasure, mark, position, and fasten materials using hand and power toolsInspect materials and completed products to ensure quality and compliance with specificationsIdentify and remove damaged or non-conforming materialsSet up workstations, tools, and materials for production runsMove completed products to staging or designated production areasPerform quality checks and support changeovers as needed during productionMaintain awareness of production schedules and workflow prioritiesFollow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and operational proceduresInspect tools and equipment before use and report any safety or maintenance concernsOperate equipment and machinery safely and responsiblyMaintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work areaWork closely with supervisors and team members to meet daily production goalsCommunicate production issues, material shortages, or quality concerns promptlySupport continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiativesPerform additional duties as assignedWhat you'll bring:Strong work ethic and dependable attendanceWillingness and ability to learn manufacturing processes, equipment, and product requirementsStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityBasic math and measurement skillsAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to safely use basic hand and power tools after trainingStrong commitment to workplace safetyAbility to work independently on assigned tasks while contributing effectively as part of a teamAbility to perform repetitive tasks accurately and consistentlyAbility to work in a fast-paced production environmentPreferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious manufacturing, production, construction, carpentry, warehouse, or related experience is a plus but not requiredFamiliarity with work orders, blueprints, layouts, or technical drawings is a plusPrevious experience with hand tools, power tools, or production equipment is a plusExperience within truss, building components, millwork, or other building-products manufacturing is a plusForklift certification or ability to obtain certification is a plusWork Environment and RequirementsWork is performed primarily in a manufacturing and production environmentFrequent exposure to machinery, moving equipment, dust, noise, vibration, and varying temperaturesAbility to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shiftAbility to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical tasksAbility to regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or mechanical equipment used for heavier materialsFrequent use of hand tools, power tools, and production equipment after appropriate trainingRequired PPE must be worn in designated production areasOvertime, weekends, or extended hours may be required based on production schedulesWhat you'll earn:Health Care Benefits401(k) with employer matchPaid Time OffBenefits for union-represented roles are determined by the applicable collective bargaining agreement and may differ from standard company benefits.QXO is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
