If that sounds like an environment in which you will thrive, Carpenter Co. could be a great fit for you!Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor at our Elkhart, IN manufacturing plant in our bedding department. This position is responsible for direct supervision for employees in the manufacturing & loading dock departments for assigned product lines. The normal work hours will be 1:30pm to 10:30pm Monday - Friday, with overtime as needed with upticks in the production schedule. Training on 1st Shift for approximately 4 - 6 weeks will be required before transitioning to 2nd Shift.Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production and distribution goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The Production Supervisor will be expected to organize, direct, and monitor all aspects of production in assigned departments, assisting in other departments as needed.Additional responsibilities of the Production Supervisor will include:Involved in daily planningSupervise hourly personnelResponsible for overseeing quality in the departmentCoordinate daily scheduleResponsible for trainingResponsible for completing customer orders efficiently and to customer specifications while keeping overtime hours at a minimumResponsible for proper equipment operation and to ensure all Preventive Maintenance Programs are being followed and completedResponsible for safety and that all safety policies and rules are being followedResponsible for implementing all company policies and guidelinesResponsible for housekeeping per value of orderResponsible for setting standards and monitor to ensure they are being metDemonstrate appropriate leadership behaviorCoordinate with customer service and/or production to ensure timely loading of productSkills and Requirements:High School Diploma or GED requiredOne to three years' Supervisory experience required to perform the job, preferably in a manufacturing environmentMechanical experience or aptitude to aid in diagnosing and trouble-shooting machines/forklifts in the departmentSome PC background, good communication skills, must be able to read a tape measure, and fork lift trainingAble to delegate duties and responsibilities effectively, as well as to monitor and direct several separate processesAbility to function under pressure is essentialCarpenter Co. conducts pre-employment drug testing on all applicants that receive and accept a written offer of employment.Carpenter Co is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or other legally protected characteristic.Carpenter Co. offers a comprehensive benefits package including excellent health insurance, generous profit sharing plan, and much more.
