Job description

Production SupervisorThe Production Supervisor (aka Supervisor) is responsible for directing and coordinating daily production activities during assigned shifts within a food processing facility. This role oversees frontline employees to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations that meet production schedules and quality standards.The Production Supervisor ensures adherence to FSMA (21 CFR Part 117) preventive controls, applicable FDA and/or USDA regulations, and supports the facility's SQF certified Food Safety and Quality Management System.This position reinforces food safety compliance and operational controls but does not override the authority of Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) personnel regarding product disposition, hold/release decisions, or food safety corrective actions. Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.Essential FunctionsSupervise production employees during assigned shiftEnsure production schedules are executed according to planMonitor line performance, yields, and downtimeAdjust labor and workflow to maintain efficiency and safetyConduct routine line checks and floor presence throughout shiftEnforce GMPs, hygiene practices, and plant sanitation standardsEnsure compliance with allergen controls and changeover proceduresVerify production documentation (batch records, check sheets, traceability logs) is complete and accurateMonitor critical process parameters as assignedImmediately escalate food safety or quality concerns to FSQASupport internal audits, third-party audits, and regulatory inspectionsEnforce company safety policies and OSHA standardsEnsure team adherence to:Lockout/Tagout (29 CFR ) proceduresMachine guarding requirementsPowered industrial truck safety rulesHazard communication standardsConfined space awareness requirementsReport and document safety incidents and near missesPromote safe behaviors and proactive hazard identificationProvide training, coaching, and performance feedback to employeesConduct shift meetings and communicate expectationsMonitor attendance and enforce company policiesCoordinate corrective actions in partnership with HRSupport onboarding and cross-training effortsComplete production reports, downtime logs, and shift summariesEnsure accurate documentation of material usage and product traceabilityCommunicate shift performance and issues to managementSupport recall readiness and mock recall activitiesCoordinate with Maintenance for equipment issues and repairsSupport preventive maintenance scheduling as neededEnsure equipment is returned to production in sanitary and operational conditionMaintain regular and predictable attendanceProvide leadership presence for the duration of assigned shiftSupport shift coverage during peak production periods or absencesMarginal (Non-Essential) FunctionsAssist in new product trialsParticipate in continuous improvement initiativesSupport special projects as assignedRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED (Associate degree preferred)Supervisory experience in manufacturing or production environmentKnowledge of GMPs and food safety fundamentalsStrong communication and organizational skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience in SQF certified facilitiesFamiliarity with FSMA preventive controls requirementsExperience in FDA and/or USDA regulated environmentsLean manufacturing exposurePhysical Demands (ADA-Compliant)Ability to stand and walk production floors for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodationAbility to access all production areasAbility to work in varying temperature environmentsWork EnvironmentFood processing and packaging environmentExposure to moving machinery, temperature variation, allergens, and sanitation chemicalsPPE required including hair restraints, safety footwear, gloves, and hearing protectionEqual Employment Opportunity (EEO) StatementSandridge Crafted Foods is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
