Production SupervisorSchedule: Sunday through Tuesday, Alternating Wednesdays, 5:00 PM- 5:00 AMWe are looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee our production operations. You will ensure that manufacturing remains a smooth and efficient process by monitoring employees and organizing workflows. In a fast-paced environment like production, the supervisor is an integral part of the manufacturing process. This position works closely with the Plant Manager and Floor Supervisor to manage personnel to direct, coordinate and assist in the day-to-day activities of the production department in the safe, cost-effective and efficient manufacturing of products.ResponsibilitiesProduction FloorSupervise the performance of the production department employees ensuring safe, efficient processing of product while meeting quantitative and qualitative standards for production output, health and safety, HACCP, GMP, sanitation and product quality.Have a basic understanding of the freeze-drying process and the related implications of processing and handling of productsDemonstrate the ability to operate production and packaging equipmentDemonstrate the ability to complete production paperwork from all departmentsAssist in the management of work force numbers, scheduling and shift assignment within agreed standardsRecommend process or equipment improvements, which would lead to quality or efficiency improvements - implement changes as agreedMinimize rework or damaged product due to employee handling and processingDelegate work assignments, troubleshoot operating problems and take preventative or corrective actionEnsure that production reporting is accurate and timely, including weights and lot tracing informationWork effectively with other departments to maximize product quality and plant efficiencyBe hands on in the production process when necessary in all departmentsEnsure adequate training is provided for employees in specific work tasks to reduce or eliminate the risk of workplace injuriesEnsure the safe operation of machinery and equipmentEnsure that employees work in compliance with established safe work practices and proceduresRigorously enforce standards of sanitation and product handlingOther tasks assigned by the Plant ManagerEmployee EngagementAssist in orientation of new hiresMaintain consistent communication with employees; Engage with and promote a positive work environment for all employeesProvide necessary training or coaching to employeesSet an example for employees in professionalism, personal care/hygiene, behavior, and care of workspaceAddress and navigate difficult conversations with employeesOfficeOrganize and maintain employee weekly/monthly schedulesLead daily employee huddles and monthly department meetingsMaintain daily attendance trackingComplete weekly payroll review and submittalWork daily within Microsoft Office suiteResponsible for handling employee reviews, one on ones, disciplinary actions, incident reportingDaily inputs of production reports into inventory database (Microsoft Dynamics NAV)QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma -or-College Degree in a technical, engineering or relevant field (preferred)Work Experience2-3 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment – Food manufacturing a plus!Prior supervisory experience a mustTechnicalHACCP, GMP knowledgeBasic Microsoft Office SkillsMechanical skills a plusPersonalStrong organizational and leadership skills together with a results-driven approachStrong communication and interpersonal skills both verbally and in writingSelf-motivated and an efficient problem solverCapable of quickly determining priorities and adapting activities to changing production conditionsAble to delegate, supervise, evaluate and motivate direct reportsTeam player with the ability to plan and execute activities and projectsAbility to maintain records and prepare clear, concise documentationWork Environment:Multiple Department Management and SupervisionPlant working environment; may be loud, High/Low TemperaturesOffice working environmentBenefits:Vacation & Sick Time ProvidedMedical, Dental, Vision Benefits with Company Premium ContributionCompany Sponsored Health Reimbursement Account401k with Employer Matching (After 1 Year of Service)Company Paid Life InsuranceCell Phone ReimbursementCompensation:Food Safety Requirements:Place high priority on food safety, quality, and sanitation by understanding and executing Mercer Food's food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.Hold self and others accountable to Mercer Foods food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.In the absence of QA Supervisor, serves as back up to ensure all food safety, quality objectives and SQF system requirements are met.
