The work involves coaching and developing your staff, improving performance, effectively scheduling the work, and always seeking new and better ways to optimize your team's contribution to the Company. You will also work closely with a multi-functional team in implementing process improvement and cost reduction initiatives using innovative tools such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and equipment optimization. Reporting to the Value Stream Manager, you will supervise a team that produces high-quality building products. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a critical manufacturing position, producing a tangible product. Be a trusted partner to the business Networking and Relationship Building Ability to be innovative and strategic Dedicated training and development to help you grow in your role and beyond Collaboration and an open friendly team environment.What does a Production Supervisor do?Leads, manages, hires, and trains a production crew of about 20 employeesPromotes and ensures a safe work environment, including training the crew and adhering to Company and governmental policies and regulationsEnsures production goals are met or exceeded, including yield, throughput, and qualityParticipates in continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniquesMeets objectives for Plant Reliability measures (% uptime, % line rate, % scrap rate)Ensures equipment maintenance and optimization, providing training for the crew and handling equipment troubleshootingPrepares daily production schedules and ensuring schedule adherenceEnsures environmental complianceWorks with maintenance and engineering to optimize the equipment performance and reliabilityRequired QualificationsRecent work experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentHigh school diploma or equivalentHighly effective communication skills (both written and verbal)Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and successfully execute tasks in accordance with business objectivesProven ability to implement change in manufacturing and/or maintenance systemsBasic computer proficiency with email and with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPointBasic knowledge of key OSHA regulations (such as Confined Spaces, Electrical Safety, Energy Isolation and Machine Safeguarding)Proven incident investigation skills and familiarity with structured tools (such as Root Cause Failure Analysis or 5 Why)Ability to and willingness to work different shiftsWhat will make you stand outAt least 3 years of full-time production supervision experience in a manufacturing environmentBachelor's degree in business, technical or related fieldExperience working with a unionized workforceKnowledge, understanding and implementation of process improvement methodologiesWhy should you join Armstrong World Industries?
