Job TitleSupervise the day to day production activities and communicate production priorities to operators and technicians. Ensure personnel are punctual and maintain attendance & timekeeping records. Make weekly payroll entries. Enforce company policies and fairly apply existing labor contract to all matters of discipline or attendance. Ensure personnel maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment. Communicate equipment, safety, process related issues to the appropriate staff as required. Review thermal processing equipment to ensure critical process parameters are met. Read, comprehend all relevant work instructions to ensure personnel are accomplishing production processes to established standards. Perform Skills audits to make sure training is accurate and successful. Perform 6S, process, training audits as required.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesThis is a full-time position that alternates weekly between 3x12 (Friday - Sunday, 6 am - 6 pm) and 4x12 (Thursday - Sunday, 6 am - 6 pm) schedules. Initial training (first 1-3 months) takes place on 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6 am - 2:30 pm)Supervise and measure day-to-day production activities with focus on safety, quality, delivery and cost.Communicate production priorities to operators and technicians.Ensure personnel are punctual and maintain attendance & timekeeping records.Make weekly payroll entries.Enforce company policies and fairly apply existing labor contracts to all matters of discipline or attendance.Ensure personnel maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment.Communicate equipment, safety, process related issues to the appropriate staff as required.Review thermal processing equipment to ensure critical process parameters are met.Read, comprehend all relevant work instructions to ensure personnel are accomplishing production processes to established standards.Perform Skills Audits to make sure training is accurate and successful.Perform 6S, process, training audits as required.Responsible for production staff and workflow.Lead and manage 12-20 hourly employees in multiple departmentsEducation & ExperienceAssociates Degree in technical field, B.A./B.S. preferred. Relevant experience can be considered as substitute for degree. Minimum 5 yr. experience supervising employees. Experience with Lean Manufacturing.SkillsExhibits sound judgment in choosing among multiple prioritiesUnderstanding of safe work environmentsWorks well with employees at all levelsLeadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and obtain results through othersSupervision: including employee hiring and retention, performance review, coaching, counseling and corrective actionQuality orientation and high attention to detailProblem analysis and resolutionUnderstanding of inventory management experience with ERP and MES systemsStrong interpersonal and communication skills.Strong team playerAbility to understand, assimilate and react to new processes and changesAbility to handle multiple priorities and issues in a fast paced, dynamic environmentAbility to work with employees in a multi-cultural, global team environmentAble to execute plans, motivate and engage the workforce, evaluate work accomplishments and provide effective feedbackDue to ITAR compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)Working ConditionsAbility to stand and walk the production floor for ~11 hours per day.Rotating schedule of Friday-Sunday 6:00 AM-6:00 PM and working every other ThursdayPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk the production floor for ~11 hours per day. Drive fork truck and lift up to 50lbs occasionally.Safety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
