Job description

Production SupervisorThe Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations in a pre-hung door production facility. This role ensures production targets are met safely, efficiently, and with high quality by coordinating labor, equipment, materials, and workflow. The supervisor leads shop personnel, enforces safety and quality standards, and drives continuous improvement across all production areas.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and coordinate daily production activities to meet output targets and delivery schedulesStart up production each shift, ensuring all lines and sub-shops are properly staffed and operationalReview shop orders for accuracy, special requirements, and material needsAssign work and adjust staffing based on priorities, callouts, and workflow demandsMonitor production flow, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actionsTrack downtime and production performanceTeam Leadership & Workforce ManagementSupervise, train, and cross-train production employees across departmentsProvide clear direction on job duties, expectations, and daily goalsConduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as neededLead daily production and safety meetings (e.g., SQDC, shift start meetings)Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environmentQuality Control & Continuous ImprovementEnsure all products meet company quality standards and customer specificationsVerify QC documentation is completed accurately and consistentlyPerform routine inspections throughout production (prep, assembly, and finished goods)Investigate and resolve quality issues and discrepanciesRecommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and control costsSafety & ComplianceEnforce PPE usage and adherence to all safety policies and proceduresConduct regular safety meetings and address hazards promptlyMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentInvestigate incidents and implement corrective actionsEquipment & Maintenance CoordinationMonitor equipment performance and ensure proper operationTroubleshoot production and machinery issues and coordinate repairs with maintenanceEnsure machines are properly maintained and work areas remain cleanInventory & Material ManagementVerify material availability and staging accuracy for production runsCommunicate material shortages or discrepancies to inventory and scheduling teamsEnsure accurate counts, door types, and handing during staging and productionReporting & Administrative DutiesComplete and review production reports, including daily tactical reports and downtime trackingEnsure all production and QC paperwork is completed and submitted accuratelyServe as backup to the Production Manager when requiredAdditional Responsibilities & MiscellaneousPerform other duties as assigned to support Manufacturing and corporate objectivesQualifications3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in door, millwork, or building productsStrong knowledge of production processes, machinery, and workflow managementProven ability to lead teams, enforce safety standards, and resolve operational issues effectivelyStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with general contractors and customersDemonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsExperience with pre-hung door production processes (prep, machining, assembly, staging) preferredClear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with crews, customers, and internal teamsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentCompensationThe listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and work location within state.
