Program Administration SpecialistProgram Administration Specialist (Extended Education Specialist I)The anticipated salary hiring range is $5,307 - $5,500 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is $5,307 - $7,554 per month.This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position. Positions at Fresno State are to perform their work onsite. Some positions, depending upon University needs and operations, may be eligible for remote work, one day per week, pursuant to Fresno State's remote work guidelines and the CSU policy.The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Eligible employees are also able to participate in the fee waiver education program. A summary of benefit information can be found here.Reporting to the Director of Programming in the Division of Continuing and Global Education (CGE), the incumbent is part of a team responsible for planning and implementing extended education programming. The team fulfills these responsibilities by building and leveraging relationships with prospective, current, and former students; faculty; staff; and external stakeholders.Each Program Administration Specialist maintains a portfolio of extended education programs including, but not limited to, academic programs, extension credit, non-credit professional development and personal enrichment programs, Intersessions, and dual enrollment initiatives. The incumbent will focus primarily on academic programs, including degrees, certificates, and credentials.CGE is the self-supporting academic and professional development unit of California State University, Fresno, known in the California State University system as Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE). As a self-supporting unit, CGE receives no state general fund appropriations. Operations are funded by revenue generated by self-supporting academic and professional development programs.Key QualificationsKnowledge of extended education, continuing education, or higher education program administration.Knowledge of the procedures and practices in educational program and curriculum planning and the processes required to plan and construct academic programs and course outlines.Budget and purchasing practices, policies and procedures.Knowledge of computer office systems and ability to use a broad range of technology, systems, and software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications).Skill/Ability to:Build professional working relationships and coordinate program operations across multiple academic and administrative units.Master sophisticated information systems, electronic workflows, and marketing platforms.Explain complex application, registration, payment, and academic procedures clearly.Identify student concerns and work with appropriate offices to resolve them.Collect and synthesize quantitative and qualitative information to support program recruitment and promotion.Exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive student, personnel, and financial information.Work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and prepare detailed written reports and correspondence.Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and projects under competing deadlines and maintain flexibility in response to constantly shifting priorities.Determine needs for new or revised programs, plan course hours and credit, develop course outlines with instructors, locate instructors and assist them in understanding and completing contract arrangements.Develop budgets and analyze costs.Education and ExperienceEquivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.Equivalent to two years of experience in planning classes or programs in a specialized field or area, preferably in higher, extended, or adult education.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge, ability, and/or experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:Knowledge of higher education admissions processes including applicant evaluation, transcript review, eligibility determination, and decision notification.Knowledge of student services related to registration, payment, withdrawal, grading, and financial aid.Knowledge of student recruitment practices and enrollment pipeline management.Knowledge of marketing campaign planning, budgeting, implementation, and evaluation.Knowledge of academic scheduling, course registration procedures, and institutional deadlines.Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.Prior experience with extended education, specifically in the CSU.Department SummaryWe proudly serve as the University's central hub for access and innovation, providing educational opportunities to a wide array of audiences that would not be otherwise served by the institution.Deadline & Application InstructionsApplications received by October 27, 2026 will be given full consideration by the search committee.Applications received after that date will be forwarded at the request of the Hiring Manager and/or search committee.Please click "Apply Now" to complete the employment application for California State University, Fresno.
