nSummary: Oversee shelter operations during working hours while maintaining a safe and secure environment.

n nPrimary Responsibilities:
nnnBe alert to shelter surroundings and be responsive to any issues that arise during your shift.
n
nnMaintain the safety of clients.
n
nnEngage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.
n
nnCheck with other staff and read/maintain log for pertinent information regarding: shelter guests.
n
nnMaintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws
n
nnand funder requirements.
n
nnEnsure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies
n
nn& procedures.
n
nnOther duties as assigned.
n
n nKnowledge and Skill Requirements:
nnnMinimum 2 years sobriety
n
nnCPR and First Aid Certified
n
nnDemonstrated sensitivity of the low income
n
nnAbility to respond in crisis situations
n
nnKnowledge of Substance Abuse and Mental Illness preferred
n
nnBasic Computer skills to maintain trainings as assigned
n
n nOrganizational Relationship: Directly reports to Program Manager.
nPhysical Requirements: Ability to ascend and descend stairs. Able to lift 30 pounds
nWorking Conditions: As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Program Advocate will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.
