OVERVIEW The Program Director (Humanities & Social Sciences) role at University of California Los Angeles supports UCLA Extension continuing and professional education initiatives. This position leads education offerings across humanities, social sciences, journalism, writing, editing, publishing, and general education. The role emphasizes academic quality, program development, workforce-aligned curriculum, and engagement with both domestic and international learners in a hybrid Los Angeles environment. Key responsibilities
Lead continuing and professional education program activities in humanities and social sciences
Support program growth and long-term development initiatives
Maintain and strengthen academic quality standards
Develop workforce-aligned curriculum and learning opportunities
Support global learning initiatives and intercultural communication efforts
Engage with community-focused education activities
Support domestic and international learners across academic programs
Oversee subject areas including journalism, writing, editing, publishing, and general education
Contribute to education planning within a hybrid work environment based in Los Angeles
Requirements
Experience supporting or leading continuing education or professional education programs
Ability to oversee academic quality and program development
Knowledge of humanities, social sciences, or related education fields
Ability to support workforce-aligned curriculum initiatives
Experience engaging with domestic and international learners
Ability to contribute to global learning and intercultural communication initiatives
