Job description
Step into a day at GeneseeYou kick off the morning refining a progressive die concept in SolidWorks with Logopress, weighing tonnage and feed progression. By mid‑day, you are coordinating with an outside tool shop on build milestones and reviewing fixture details in AutoCAD. In the afternoon, you're on the floor running a tooling trial, validating part quality with GD&T checks, tuning process flow to squeeze cycle time, and documenting revisions so the next run is even better.Core impact areasOwn the end‑to‑end design of stamping dies, tooling, and check fixtures using CAD platforms (SolidWorks, Logopress, AutoCAD).Engineer solutions that meet safety, ergonomic, and operational standards from concept through launch.Lead internal and external tool builds, track timelines, and keep projects on schedule.Plan and execute tooling trials and validations; diagnose and resolve performance issues.Optimize material utilization, cycle time, tonnage, and overall process flow for throughput and cost.Partner closely with Engineering, Tool & Die, Quality, and Production to achieve launch and production goals.Create and maintain complete documentation: CAD models, detailed drawings, specifications, and design guidelines.Identify and implement improvements that drive efficiency and reduce waste.What you bringHigh School Diploma/GED plus an engineering degree (or equivalent practical experience).Minimum 5 years in tooling design, development, or manufacturing engineering.Hands‑on background with progressive stamping dies.SolidWorks proficiency (Logopress preferred) with exposure to 2D design.Strong GD&T knowledge and the ability to read and interpret complex prints.Practical understanding of tool and die build, debug, machining, and repair/setup fundamentals.Ability to analyze part failures and perform root‑cause problem solving.Familiarity with transfer and progressive dies, coil‑fed presses, and in‑die tapping/assembly systems.Nice to haveCertified Toolmaker or 5+ years in Tool & Die.Completion of a formal apprenticeship.APQP/PPAP experience and working knowledge of ISO standards.Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.Clear, thorough communication and documentation; strong analytical problem solving.Why you'll love working hereFlexible rhythm: Monday–Thursday onsite, Friday work remotely.Bonus eligibility based on a blend of personal performance and overall plant profitability.Meaningful growth opportunities and a visible impact on operations.Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.A platform to innovate and influence manufacturing excellence.Proficiencies we valueGD&T, CAD/CAM, and Mechanical Design & Engineering.Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.Troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.Metal Stamping & Forming (Progressive Die).Tool/Die/Mold repair and setup familiarity; PPAP process experience.Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration.Tools & technologiesCAD: AutoCAD, SolidWorks (Logopress), Solid Edge.Equipment context: coil‑fed presses; in‑die tapping/assembly; transfer/progressive dies.
