Overview
A leading infrastructure construction firm is seeking a Project Accountant to join its team on a major development project in Chicago. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-profile, multi-billion-dollar initiative that will have a lasting impact on the city\'s infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Support monthly financial close processes and assist with internal reporting
Prepare account reconciliations for cash, liabilities, fixed assets, and payroll accruals
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper approvals
Manage petty cash disbursements and perform monthly reconciliations
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards
Coordinate with banks for transfers and letters of credit
Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation
Track and maintain inventory of fixed assets and project-related materials
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and cost efficiency
Qualifications
Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Proficiency in reconciliations, budgeting, and invoice processing
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with project-based financial structures and banking procedures is a plus
