Project Accountant

nOffice Location: 601 First Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504

nPosition Classification: Full-Time Regular

nRockford Construction is seeking a Project Accountant to support the accounting operations of assigned construction projects, focusing on accounts payable, accounts receivable, and project-related financial processes. This role partners closely with project teams and the management staff to ensure accurate financial reporting, timely payments, and successful execution of company objectives.

nIn this role, you will work collaboratively with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal departments. Key responsibilities include preparing owner pay applications, processing trade contractor payments, and collecting and reviewing sworn statements and lien waivers throughout the project lifecycle.

nThe ideal candidate is reliable, analytical, detail-oriented, and has a basic understanding of accounting principles. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders are essential. nWhat Will I Do?

nnnFoster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion

nnPrepare and assemble monthly owner pay applications

nnMaintain and adjust project budgets and change orders

n

nnServe as a resource for resolving accounts payable and accounts receivable issues

n

nnTrack project receivables and monitor collections

n

nnEnter trade contractor invoices into approval workflow system

n

nnReview sworn statements and tiered lien waivers for accuracy and compliance

n

nnMonitor project underbilling and assist with resolution

n

nnManage and process trade payables based on contract terms

n

nnAct as liaison between operations, vendors/trade contractors, and owners

n

nnAssist with month-end close and audit preparations as needed

n

nnPerform other related duties as assigned

n

n nRequirements

nnnAssociate degree in Accounting or a minimum of three years of accounting experience (Bachelor’s degree preferred)

n

nnStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines

n

nnExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

n

nnProficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook

n

nnExperience with ERP; Acumatica experience a plus

n

nnExperience with Project Management software (Procore) a plus

n

nnHigh attention to detail and accuracy

n

nnAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

n

nnStrong commitment to meeting deadlines and supporting team success
