As a result, they are looking to add a Project Accountant to their team. In this role, the Project Accountant will serve as a key financial resource for assigned construction projects, supporting everything from budgeting and forecasting to cost analysis, billing, and financial reporting. Working closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Accounting leadership, this individual will help ensure project financials remain accurate, costs are effectively managed, and reporting deadlines are consistently met throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Accountant Responsibilities:

Establish new projects within CMiC by setting up job records, loading project budgets, creating billing structures, and configuring GC Pay based on executed contract requirements.

Monitor project financial performance by tracking labor costs, subcontractor expenditures, general conditions costs, and overall project spending.

Analyze budget activity and partner with Project Managers to identify variances, cost trends, and potential budget concerns.

Assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting by providing insight into project profitability, billing status, and over/under billings.

Generate and submit customer invoices in accordance with contractual billing requirements and project milestones.

Review and approve subcontractor pay applications through GC Pay, ensuring proper cost allocation, coding accuracy, and data integrity.

Participate in monthly and annual financial close processes, including account reconciliations and project reporting activities.

Maintain organized and accurate project financial records, including lien waivers, contract documentation, and supporting project files.

Coordinate with subcontractors and project teams to resolve billing issues, documentation discrepancies, and payment-related inquiries.

Verify subcontractor compliance requirements to ensure eligibility for payment and funding approval.

Process and distribute subcontractor payments in a timely manner while adhering to company procedures.

Support the onboarding, training, and development of new accounting team members by sharing knowledge and best practices.

The Successful Applicant:

3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction, contracting, or project-based environment.

Strong knowledge of job costing, project accounting, and construction financial management practices.

Familiarity with construction industry regulations, contract requirements, lien waivers, and compliance standards across multiple jurisdictions.

Experience managing cash flow activities, banking transactions, payment processing, and vendor disbursements.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze data, create reports, and manage financial information efficiently.

Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across accounting, operations, and project teams.

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.

Capable of thriving in a fast-paced setting while adapting to changing business and project demands.

What's on Offer:

Competitive compensation package including performance-based bonus opportunities.

Collaborative and supportive culture with a team-first environment.

Excellent career growth potential, including a clear path for advancement into Senior Project Accountant and beyond.

Strong emphasis on work-life balance and employee flexibility.

Comprehensive benefits package featuring medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and additional retirement planning options.

Stock participation opportunities available as part of the overall rewards program.

Hybrid work schedule, offering the flexibility to work from home two days per week.
