Job description
Job Title: Project Accountant
nPlay a key role in delivering successful construction projects by providing accurate financial reporting, cost analysis, and project accounting support. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, collaboration, and seeing the direct impact of their work on large-scale projects.
nJob Description
nnnSupport the full-cycle cost management of projects, establishing and maintaining robust cost controls from concept through completion.
n
nnFacilitate the use of a subcontractor change management system, ensuring timely responses by responsible parties and performing completeness reviews.
n
nnProcess change orders in the system of record, ensuring timeliness and completeness standards are upheld.
n
nnSupport the presentation of monthly cost reports and risk assessments to internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key variances, risks, and recommended mitigation actions.
n
nnSupport monthly stakeholder meetings and formal presentations with clear financial content, data-driven insights, and expert commentary.
n
nnReview and interpret contractual terms to recommend entitlements related to change orders, claims, and other commercial matters.
n
nnCoordinate directly with client finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate reporting and full compliance with all financial controls.
n
nnAnalyze and report on local labor markets, union implications, commodity fluctuations, and tax impacts to inform project cost strategy and budget updates.
n
nnAssist in resolving invoice/change order discrepancies and payment-related issues.

nnnBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
n
nnA minimum of 1 year of project accounting/finance experience in construction.
n
nnA minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a project management, cost management role, or accounting role within the commercial construction industry.
n
nnThorough understanding of construction accounting principles.
n
nnExperience with the entire change order lifecycle.
n
nnProficiency in construction management software such as Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
n
n nJob Type & Location
nThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
nPay and Benefits
nThe pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.07/hr.
nIndividual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
