Project Accounting Coordinator
The Project Accounting Coordinator is an entry-level support role that assists project teams with the financial and administrative documentation needed to keep construction projects running smoothly. Working under the guidance of a Project Accountant or Project Manager, this position supports invoicing, billing, cost tracking, and compliance documentation while helping maintain accurate project records. The role is based in our Columbus, OH office with regular travel to area job sites. The ideal candidate is a flexible, adaptable team player with strong communication, organization, and client service skills.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process and track subcontractor and supplier invoices, ensuring accurate coding, documentation, and timely payment.
Assist with monthly owner pay applications and supporting billing documentation.
Track and maintain project compliance documentation, including lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and subcontractor agreements.
Support job cost tracking and reconciliation under the direction of the Project Accountant.
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes for assigned projects.
Maintain, distribute, and archive project financial documentation and correspondence, and establish project filing systems and folder structure.
Attend project and financial review meetings and record meeting minutes.
Provide general administrative support to the project accounting and project teams as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
1-2 years of administrative or accounting support experience; entry-level candidates encouraged to apply.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Basic skills in Bluebeam, Prolog, Box, and SAP, or the ability to learn construction financial systems quickly.
Basic math and accounting skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the project and accounting teams.
Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to identify, track, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
