Job description
Lead development of a portfolio of ground-mount, rooftop, and carport solar and storage projects from Letter of Intent through Notice to Proceed.
Establish project priorities, development plans, stage gates, and resource allocation across the portfolio.
Oversee system design, equipment strategy, interconnection, permitting, environmental diligence, and site control.
Identify and mitigate technical, commercial, regulatory, financial, and schedule risks.
Own project budgets, schedules, forecasts, development milestones, and capital requirements.
Protect project economics and lead project approvals, capital requests, financing diligence, and preparation for project or fund closings.
Oversee negotiation and execution of key project agreements with customers, landowners, utilities, development partners, and vendors.
Manage Project Development Managers and other development team members, setting priorities and driving accountability.
Coordinate with Business Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Construction, and Asset Management.
Build external relationships, serve as an escalation point, and present portfolio status, risks, and key decisions to senior leadership.
Translate market, incentive, regulatory, and industry changes into development strategy and improve portfolio processes, tools, and reporting standards.
Requirements
Undergraduate degree.
8+ years of renewable energy project development experience.
Proven track record developing commercial and industrial (C&I) or distributed generation projects to Notice to Proceed.
Deep understanding of core development workstreams, including interconnection, permitting, engineering, site control, contracting, and project economics.
Demonstrated experience leading project teams, managing complex development portfolios, and mentoring junior staff.
Strong commercial judgment, communication, and negotiation skills, with experience presenting to senior internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred: Experience developing battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Preferred: Experience with both behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter/wholesale renewable energy projects.
Ideally located in New York or Northeast Region with Eastern Time hours expected.
US-only work authorization/location for the remote option.
