This role provides strategic leadership to project teams, serves as a senior client-facing representative, and is accountable for safety, quality, schedule, cost, risk management, project controls, and operational readiness. The Project Director partners with owners, design teams, trade partners, vendors, equipment manufacturers, and internal leadership to deliver technically complex projects on time, within budget, and to the highest performance standards.

At Brinkmann Constructors, we don't just build buildings - we build community, relationships, and a team that inspires confidence. By joining our team, you can deliver outstanding results with an industry leader while building your career. Together, let's build a future we can be proud of and make a difference, one construction project at a time. Our purpose is people. Our passion is building.

Responsibilities

Maintain strong client relationships and serve as a senior point of contact throughout pursuit, preconstruction, construction, commissioning, and closeout.

Support business development activities, client strategy, market positioning, proposals, interviews, and negotiated project opportunities.

Lead project setup, governance structure, delivery strategy, communication protocols, reporting cadence, and project execution planning.

Oversee preconstruction services, constructability reviews, design coordination, value analysis, estimating, budgeting, and schedule development.

Develop and monitor project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, cost controls, billings, change management, and overall financial performance.

Manage master schedules, milestone tracking, critical path activities, manpower planning, logistics, and recovery plans when needed.

Lead procurement and subcontracting strategies for critical equipment, long-lead materials, specialty vendors, and key trade partners.

Coordinate with design teams, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, owners, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical and operational issues.

Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, quality expectations, contract requirements, ethics, compliance, and regulatory obligations.

Establish and monitor QA/QC processes, inspection protocols, documentation requirements, punch processes, and corrective action plans.

Oversee commissioning planning, readiness reviews, systems turnover, issue resolution, and closeout activities for critical building systems.

Monitor project documentation, meeting minutes, submittals, RFIs, change orders, contracts, invoices, and owner reporting for accuracy and timeliness.

Lead owner, architect, contractor, preconstruction, progress, discipline, commissioning, and executive-level project meetings.

Identify, assess, communicate, and mitigate risks that may impact project performance, customer satisfaction, or operational readiness.

Lead project management, field, safety, quality, procurement, and project controls teams assigned to mission critical work; assign work, set expectations, monitor performance, and hold team members accountable for project outcomes.

Coach, mentor, train, and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and other project team members.

Create a collaborative, accountable, solutions-oriented team culture that supports complex, fast-paced project delivery.

Provide ongoing feedback, development conversations, recognition, and performance input for assigned team members.

Support interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning for mission critical project teams.

May serve as a mentor to new hires or team members transitioning into mission critical project delivery.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, business, or related field preferred.

15+ years of construction experience, including significant experience leading large-scale commercial, industrial, data center, or mission critical projects.

Experience leading complex projects or programs with major capital budgets, accelerated schedules, technical systems, and multiple stakeholders.

Demonstrated understanding of mission critical construction, including MEP coordination, power, cooling, low-voltage, structured cabling, commissioning, redundancy, and operational readiness considerations.

Strong knowledge of construction principles, preconstruction, estimating, scheduling, procurement, project controls, contract management, cost forecasting, and change management.

Proven ability to lead client relationships, negotiate effectively, influence decisions, and resolve complex issues in high-pressure environments.

Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, communication, business development, and team-building skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, scheduling software, project management systems, cost management tools, and related construction technology platforms preferred.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in office, field office, and active construction site environments, with regular exposure to mission critical project sites and related safety requirements.

Position may require frequent travel to project sites, client meetings, vendor locations, and pursuit or industry events.

Environment is demanding and fast paced; work hours may exceed 40 hours per week and may require availability outside standard business hours to support project needs.

Light physical effort is required, including walking job sites, standing, sitting, talking, hearing, and occasionally handling objects; construction site access may require use of personal protective equipment.
