Coffman Excavation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our growing team in Boise, Idaho. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious construction professional looking to gain hands-on experience in project management, estimating, and field operations while working alongside experienced industry leaders.
As a Project Engineer, you'll play a critical role in supporting construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This position offers a clear career path for individuals who aspire to advance into a Project Manager role and take on increasing responsibility within a respected excavation and civil construction company.
What You'll Do
As a Project Engineer, you will support the Project Manager in all aspects of construction management, including:
Assisting with project planning, coordination, and execution
Performing quantity takeoffs and estimating support
Soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor quotations
Assisting in the preparation of project estimates and proposals
Conducting site visits and supporting project oversight
Managing and tracking RFIs, submittals, and plan revisions
Coordinating material procurement and delivery schedules
Monitoring project costs and assisting with budget tracking
Supporting safety initiatives and jobsite compliance
Assisting with change order management and project documentation
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
0–5 years of construction, engineering, or project coordination experience
Experience reviewing construction drawings, plans, and specifications
Understanding of RFIs, submittals, and document control processes
Knowledge of estimating principles and quantity takeoffs
Familiarity with change order management processes
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening
Preferred Skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively with field and office teams
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
