Increase your chances of reaching the interview stage by reading the complete job description and applying promptly.

DLCE is looking for a Project Engineer to join our growing Pacific Northwest transportation practice in Seattle. This role is designed for a multidisciplinary civil engineer who is already comfortable producing design work and is ready to take the next step: leading small teams, managing project scope, schedule and budget, and developing toward a Project Manager role.

You'll work on transportation and transit projects throughout the Pacific Northwest, with opportunities across civil/site design, grading and drainage, utilities, roadway, rail and BRT/station design. Our Seattle team is growing, which means this isn't a narrowly defined production position. You'll have meaningful exposure to project delivery and regional leadership, with room to influence your own trajectory as the practice expands.

Responsibilities

Develop civil and transportation design deliverables using Civil 3D/Forma, Bluebeam

Perform engineering calculations and prepare drawings and supporting technical documentation.

Contribute across multiple disciplines, which may include civil/site design, grading and drainage, utilities, roadway, rail, and transit/BRT station design.

Coordinate and help lead small multidisciplinary design teams.

Track scope, schedule and budget for smaller projects and assignments.

Coordinate with clients, partner firms and other design disciplines.

Support projects from design through permitting and construction.

Progressively assume greater project-management responsibility as your experience and interests develop.

Support training and mentorship of junior engineers

Help shape the way our growing Pacific Northwest team works and delivers projects.

Qualifications

Approximately 5- 10 years of civil/transportation engineering experience

Strong working proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D

Experience with several of the following: Civil/site design, grading and drainage, utilities, roadway, rail, BRT or transit station design.

Experience working with Sound Transit is strongly preferred. Experience with SDOT or other Seattle/PNW public agencies is also highly valued.

Understanding of local design standards, permitting processes, and public-agency project delivery.

PE strongly preferred. Candidates who are not yet licensed may be considered if they have a clear path and active plan toward PE licensure.

Interest in growing beyond technical production into project and team leadership

Why DLCE?

This role offers something that's difficult to find on a large, established team: room to grow with the practice instead of simply moving through a predefined hierarchy.

Our Pacific Northwest team combines the resources and project portfolio of an established firm with the opportunity and accessibility of a growing regional office. You'll be able to work closely with senior leadership, broaden your technical experience, take responsibility for smaller projects and teams, and intentionally develop toward project management. xzgxqkn

If you're a strong multidisciplinary engineer who wants more ownership of how projects are delivered and where your career goes next, we'd like to talk.
