Project Engineer (Electrical & Controls)

Brooksource Engineering Services | Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Client

Location: Lehigh Valley, PA (100% On-Site)

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire / Long-Term Project Assignment

About the Opportunity

Brooksource Engineering Services is seeking an Electrical & Controls Project Engineer to support a major pharmaceutical manufacturing expansion program. This engineer will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, supporting controls design, electrical integration, automation coordination, and construction execution.

This role is highly focused on controls and automation systems rather than traditional power distribution. The engineer will work closely with mechanical engineering teams, contractors, and design-build partners to ensure electrical and control systems are properly designed, installed, integrated, and commissioned.

The ideal candidate enjoys being in the field, solving technical challenges, and driving project execution from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the electrical and controls engineering representative for assigned project scope.

Review electrical, controls, and automation designs developed by engineering partners and contractors.

Support integration of control systems with facility mechanical infrastructure and Building Management Systems (BMS).

Participate in engineering design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.

Collaborate with project managers, contractors, automation teams, and technical SMEs.

Verify controls and electrical installations comply with drawings, specifications, and engineering standards.

Troubleshoot field issues and coordinate resolution with engineering and construction teams.

Support commissioning, startup, testing, and operational readiness activities.

Ensure effective communication between project stakeholders throughout execution.

Maintain regular field presence during construction and installation activities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related discipline.

5-8 years of engineering experience supporting capital projects within industrial or manufacturing environments.

Experience working with industrial controls, automation systems, or facility control platforms.

Experience collaborating with design-build contractors and engineering firms.

Ability to interpret electrical drawings, controls architecture diagrams, and construction documentation.

Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.

Comfortable working full-time on-site in a construction and manufacturing setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, food & beverage, chemicals, or other regulated manufacturing experience.

Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS).

Experience supporting facility automation or industrial control systems.

Exposure to commissioning, qualification, or startup activities.

EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
