đ¨ NOW HIRING: Project Engineer â Pharma Construction
Kankakee, IL
Weâre looking for an experienced Project Engineer to support a large-scale, multi-building GMP-compliant pharmaceutical construction project in Kankakee, IL.
This is a hands-on construction-phase position for a Project Engineer who has experience working for an EPC contractor on pharmaceutical, biopharma, or life sciences projects . While the official title is Project Engineer, this role will operate similarly to an Assistant Construction Manager , with significant involvement in the field and day-to-day execution of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Construction Manager with daily construction activities and field execution
- Coordinate subcontractors, field teams, scheduling, logistics, and resources
- Work closely with the construction team to keep project milestones on schedule
- Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation
- Monitor quality and ensure construction activities meet project specifications and GMP requirements
- Track material deliveries and coordinate with procurement and project teams
- Participate in project meetings, safety activities, and field coordination
- Identify and escalate issues affecting schedule, quality, or construction progress
- Serve as a key connection between the EPC project team, subcontractors, and field personnel
What Weâre Looking For:
- 3â5+ years of construction/project engineering experience
- Experience working for an EPC contractor is required
- Pharmaceutical, biopharma, life sciences, or GMP construction experience is strongly preferred
- Experience specifically supporting the construction phase of a pharmaceutical project
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and field construction activities
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with construction/project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar
â Preferred:
- Bachelorâs degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or related field
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent
- Experience with large-scale, complex pharmaceutical or life sciences facilities
- Knowledge of GMP requirements and pharmaceutical facility systems, including HVAC, process piping, and electrical distribution
