Job description

About the Practice

Our hiring partner is a distinguished outpatient psychiatric practice that has served the Maryland community for more than ten years. Its multidisciplinary team of over 90 clinicians provides child, adolescent, and adult psychiatric medication management, individual and group therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), and weight management services. Despite significant growth, the practice has intentionally maintained a close-knit culture with a strong record of provider longevity and retention. The team believes excellent psychiatric care is built on strong therapeutic relationships, thoughtful clinical decision-making, ongoing learning, and collaboration across disciplines - and values compassion, competence, work-life balance, curiosity, inclusivity, and acceptance of all identities and bodies.

Practice Locations and Hybrid Work

The practice offers hybrid work across five offices in Baltimore, Bethesda, Columbia, Hunt Valley, and Frederick.

Position Overview

The PMHNP will provide outpatient psychiatric evaluations and ongoing treatment to children, adolescents, and/or adults, depending on clinical interest and experience. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, collaborative clinician who enjoys building strong therapeutic relationships, works well within a multidisciplinary team, and wants to continue expanding their clinical skills.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and establish individualized treatment plans based on patient goals, evidence-based guidelines, and treatment response.

Prescribe psychotropic medications as appropriate, monitoring effectiveness, side effects, and progress over time.

Manage patients with conditions including anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and substance use disorders.

Provide patient education on mental health conditions, medications, and lifestyle modifications.

Assess suicide risk, safety concerns, and other acute symptoms; distinguish emergent from non-emergent situations and coordinate appropriate levels of care, including referral to higher levels of care when indicated.

Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and coordinate care with the patient's family and multidisciplinary team.

Work effectively with administrative staff and the multidisciplinary treatment team, including ongoing collaboration with therapy providers.

Participate in case discussions, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.

Practice consistent with current psychiatric standards, applicable laws and regulations, licensing requirements, organizational policies, and professional and ethical boundaries.

Remain current with evidence-based practices in psychopharmacology and behavioral health.

Requirements

Active Maryland APRN license.

Active DEA enrollment.

Minimum 3 years of Psych experience.

Standard scope of psych experience and DSM scope of experience required.

Suboxone prescription experience required.

Experience with substance abuse preferred, not required.

Active CAQH profile preferred, not required.

Benefits & Perks

Generous paid time off and holidays.

Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

401(k) with up to 4% company match after one year of employment and 1,000 working hours.

Malpractice insurance coverage.

Reimbursement of Maryland licensure, CDS, and DEA registration, and board certification fees.

Dedicated administrative, billing, prior authorizations, credentialing, and clinical management support.

An established referral base - providers are not asked to market or build their own panel.

Schedule & Hybrid Model

Hybrid role - minimum 2 days per week on-site. In-office days are at whichever practice location is closest to the provider, not a location of their choosing.

Remaining time is Telehealth, structured around the office's Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. hours. No call.

Schedule is built around each provider's own patient panel, not a fixed shift. Some patients need 7 a.m. starts; others are seen only in the evening - hours may extend earlier or later than standard business hours to accommodate them.

New hires work standard admin hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) during their first several weeks, so administrative support is available while they ramp up. Admin support is available 8 a.m.-5 p.m. for all providers.
