Essentials Functions
Assesses, diagnoses, treats, and manages acute episodic and chronic illnesses and patient health, and provides diagnostic and therapeutic services. Exercises autonomy in medical decision making. Ensures informed consent is properly secured and documented.
Communicates with other professionals (i.e. counselor and PCP) working with patients.
Attends clinical team meetings.
Provides clinical consultation for staff and clinical interns/externs.
Provides training to medical students, pediatric residents, clinical interns/externs, and staff.
Qualifications
Education: Master's in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing
Experience: Current national certification from AANPNCB or other national certifying body (requires 18 months under a NP mentor before becoming certified) is required.
Supervisory Experience: n/a
Certification/Licensure: Current Maryland license in good standing issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing to practice as a nurse practitioner or appropriate federal district licensure where research is conducted.
Licensed with specific patient population and/or specialty area of practice is required.
Other: Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to support the Care Clinic's mission.
