Job description
Vijapura Psychiatry is hiring a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our growing outpatient practice in Jacksonville, Florida.
We are a physician-led, academically oriented psychiatry practice focused on thoughtful diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, longitudinal relationships, and clinical excellence.
As our practice has grown, we have become increasingly intentional about how we train and develop clinicians before they practice independently.
For PMHNPs who have not completed substantial postgraduate psychiatric training elsewhere, our standard pathway is the Vijapura Psychiatry 12-month Postgraduate APP Fellowship in Psychiatry. The fellowship provides structured supervision, case discussion, didactics, mentorship, and progressive clinical independence.
We will consider direct-entry PMHNP candidates in select circumstances when they have completed a rigorous psychiatric residency or fellowship elsewhere and have multiple years of strong outpatient psychiatric experience following that training. Years of experience alone are not considered a substitute for structured postgraduate psychiatric training.

Wants ongoing supervision, mentorship, and thoughtful clinical feedback
Is intellectually curious and comfortable asking questions when uncertain
Values careful diagnosis and differential diagnosis rather than simply treating symptoms
Approaches psychopharmacology thoughtfully and evidence-based
Works well with physicians, APPs, therapists, and administrative team members
Is dependable, professional, and kind to patients and colleagues
Is interested in measurement-based and integrative psychiatric care
Wants to continue developing clinically over the course of their career
Is interested in building long-term relationships with patients and with our practice
Has an interest in teaching or mentoring future clinicians — a plus, but not required
Our clinical model emphasizes comprehensive psychiatric assessment, careful medication management, measurement-based care, and attention to sleep, exercise, nutrition, substance use, and medical contributors to psychiatric symptoms.
This is not intended to be a high-volume medication-management position. We want clinicians who enjoy thinking carefully about their patients, discussing challenging cases, receiving feedback, and continuing to grow.
Requirements:
Eligible for Florida APRN licensure
MSN or DNP from an accredited PMHNP program
Willingness to participate in structured supervision, mentorship, and ongoing clinical development
Completion of the Vijapura Psychiatry fellowship OR comparable high-quality postgraduate psychiatric residency/fellowship training before independent practice within our model
For direct-entry candidates:
Completion of a rigorous postgraduate psychiatric residency or fellowship
Multiple years of subsequent outpatient psychiatric experience
Location: Jacksonville, Florida — one in-office day per week required
