nHow you make a difference
nThe Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides a full range of psychiatric services to incarcerated patients in accordance with state scope of practice, collaborative protocols, and established policies. This role delivers direct psychiatric care while also providing clinical consultation to mental health and healthcare staff. The position works within state guidelines to support consistent, high-quality psychiatric services across the facility. Clinical consultation and supervision are sought as required under applicable collaborative practice requirements.
nKey Responsibilities
nnnProvide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up care while exercising independent medical judgment.
n
nnMonitor and manage psychotropic medications, including effectiveness, side effects, and required follow-up.
n
nnCollaborate with mental health, medical, and administrative teams to ensure consistent psychiatric and mental health services.
n
nnComplete timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in required meetings, consultations, and on-call coverage.
n
nnSupport crisis intervention, referrals, transfers, and emergency or involuntary treatment processes as allowed by scope of practice.
n
n nQualifications & Requirements
nEducation
nnMaster in Science of Nursing or Post-Master's Certificate from an accredited nurse practitioner program with a specialty in psychiatric mental health across the lifespan.
n nExperience
nnnMinimum one (1) year of experience as a PMHNP required.
n
nnCorrections experience in a PMHNP role preferred.
n
n nLicenses/Certifications
nnnUnrestricted current license to practice as a PMHNP in the state of practice.
n
nnCurrent board certification as a PMHNP.
n
nnCurrent DEA Registration.
n
nnCurrent BLS certification.
n
n nThis position is available only to those who reside in the United States.
