nHow you make a difference
nThe Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides a full range of psychiatric services to incarcerated patients in accordance with state licensure, collaborative practice requirements, and established policies and procedures. This role delivers direct psychiatric care, clinical consultation, and follow-up services to support patient treatment and continuity of care. The position works closely with mental health, medical, and administrative teams to ensure consistent and compliant psychiatric services. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner also seeks clinical consultation and supervision as required by collaborative practice protocols.
nKey Responsibilities
nnnProvide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, follow-up care, and medication management within professional and regulatory standards.
n
nnMonitor effectiveness and side effects of psychotropic medications and provide ongoing patient education and informed consent.
n
nnCollaborate with mental health, medical, and administrative teams to ensure coordinated and consistent psychiatric services.
n
nnComplete timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in required meetings, consultations, and on-call coverage.
n
nnSupport crisis intervention, referrals, transfers, and emergency or involuntary treatment processes as allowed by scope of practice and guidelines.
n
n nQualifications & Requirements
nEducation
nnMaster in Science of Nursing or Post-Master's Certificate from an accredited nurse practitioner program with a specialty in psychiatric mental health across the lifespan.
n nExperience
nnnMinimum one (1) year of experience as a PMHNP required.
n
nnCorrections experience in a PMHNP role preferred.
n
n nLicenses/Certifications
nnnUnrestricted current license to practice as a PMHNP in the state of practice.
n
nnCurrent board certification as a PMHNP.
n
nnCurrent DEA Registration.
n
nnCurrent BLS certification.
n
n nThis position is available only to those who reside in the United States.
