nAbout Madison State Hospital:
nMadison State Hospital is located in a rural area overlooking the Ohio River and has served the citizens of Indiana for over a century, opening its door to patients in 1910. As part of the Indiana State Psychiatric Hospital Network, our staff offer comprehensive treatment programs utilizing a Trauma Informed Care approach. Patients admitted for treatment can participate in individual therapy, medication therapy, family therapy, psycho-educational groups, rehabilitation therapies, chaplain services, co-occurring programming, as well as employment opportunities. Unit-based programming is augmented with campus-wide specialty groups. MSH has been a state leader in evidenced-based medication prescribing to both reduce the risks associated with polypharmacy and optimize clinical outcomes. The hospital clinical and medical leadership collaborate with the unit treatment teams to provide the most contemporary and comprehensive care possible.
nSalary:

nA Day in the Life:
nDeliver Psychiatric Care and Education
nnPrescribes and administers psychiatric care to patients including completing assessments, prescribing medications, and providing patient/family education to support recovery and informed decision-making.
n nLead Treatment Planning and Team Collaboration
nnnServes in a leadership capacity on treatment teams and take an active role in providing appropriate clinical direction in the development of individual treatment plans to ensure coordinated care.
n
nnCollaborates with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress to foster interdisciplinary alignment.
n
n nDocument and Diagnose Patient Conditions
nnnGathers and maintains patient information and records, including social or medical history obtained from patients, relatives, or other professionals to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.
n
nnAnalyzes and evaluates patient data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of mental disorder to guide appropriate interventions.
n
n nMaintain Professional Standards and Governance
nnnCompletes continuing educational opportunities to improve the field of medicine and comply with the medical-professional staff bylaws, rules, and regulations to uphold clinical excellence.
n
nnServes on selected standing hospital committees and demonstrate active participation, providing input within areas of competence to support institutional governance.
n

nThis position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

nnKnowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.

nnnThe ability to demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that enables him/her to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and members of health care teams.

nnBoard-Certified or Board-Eligible General Psychiatry MD/DO and subspecialty board certification if applicable.

nnPossession of a valid license to practice medicine in the state of Indiana as issued by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

nnCompletion of an accredited residency training program in Psychiatry or subspecialty training if applicable.
n
n nIndividuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

nThis role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
