THIS IS FOR A FUTURE OPENING
nSTGi is currently seeking a Psychiatrist to provide services at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic.
nJOB SUMMARY:
nThe general duty of the Psychiatrist is to provide covered professional psychiatric services to enrolled patients of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Veteran Affairs Mental Health Program, and to act as a collaborating physician for the onsite Psychiatric Mental Health Advanced Practitioner(s).
nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
nnnProvide treatment for patients with general psychiatric disorders in a variety of treatment settings, including tele-mental health.
n
nnServe as subject matter expert in support of the behavioral health interdisciplinary team with responsibilities of providing clinical education, coordinating consults and triaging specialty clinic referrals.
n
nnCollaborate with approved fee-based community mental health inpatient programs to assist/coordinate discharge planning, medication, and follow-up appointments, as well as, coordinating with ambulatory care services, as appropriate.
n
nnDevelop and implement treatment plans for a range of mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, personality, and behavioral disorders, phobias, post-traumatic stress, and more.
n
nnMonitor patients’ progress and liaising with other healthcare professionals to adjust treatment plans as required .
n
nnFacilitate group and one-on-one counselling sessions.
n
nnCounsel and educate patients, families, communities, staff and others regarding mental health care.
n
nnDocument patient care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
n
nnMaintain clinical and administrative records as required .
n
nnMust be prepared to sign a collaborative practice agreement with clinic Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and/or Physician Assistant providing mental health services.
n
nnPromote continuity and quality of care through an ongoing relationship with the veteran enrollee.
n
nnProvide smooth and timely flow of patients in accordance with the VA access standards and triage protocol.
n
nnComply with all federal, state, local, Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Veteran Affairs, Subcontractor safety and operational regulations, directives and standards.
n
nnEnsure all patient information on encounter forms is complete and accurate .
n
nnMaintain confidentiality of all information and support patients` privacy, rights, and safety.
n
nnAct as a liaison for the VAMC.
n
nnPerform other work-related duties as assigned.
n
n nRequired Skills
nREQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
nnnRetain an active, full and unrestricted medical license in the state of Mississippi.
n
nnBoard-certified or Board-eligible by the ABPN or AOBPN in Psychiatry.
n
nnCurrent and unrestricted DEA.
n
nnRetain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Military Training Network (MTN).
n
nnKnowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques in accordance with the community and VA standards of practice.
n
nnKnowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, including desired effects, side effects, complications, and patient usage considerations.
n
nnKnowledge of the basic concepts of customer service technique related to age-specific population .
n
nnEffective verbal and written communication skills in the English language along with proper telephone etiquette.
n
nnWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and computer maneuverability including experience with electronic medical records systems.
n
n nRequired Experience
nREQUIRED EDUCATION:
nnnPossess a Doctorate Degree in Medicine from an accredited college approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, a Doctorate degree in Osteopathy from a college accredited by the American Osteopathic Association, or permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

nnSuccessful completion of an accredited residency program in general psychiatry.
n
n nWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
nnnModerate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
n
nnWork is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
n
nnRequired to respond to any medical emergency within the clinic, where a fast walk or job may be necessary to provide assistance .
