Job description
The System Medical Director of Behavioral Health is the senior physician leader accountable for the clinical strategy, quality, growth, integration, and development of behavioral health services across Mountains Health. The physician will concurrently serve as Medical Director of Mountains Behavioral Health, a 44-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
The role is intentionally broader than a traditional inpatient medical directorship. The successful candidate will build an integrated regional behavioral health delivery system for rural western Pennsylvania, spanning adult and adolescent inpatient and outpatient care, psychiatric emergency and crisis services, telepsychiatry, collaborative care, rapid-access psychiatry, community-based intensive treatment, intensive outpatient and step-down programs, geriatric behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, and detoxification services.
The Medical Director will provide executive physician oversight to the Outpatient Psychiatric Service Medical Director and collaborate with hospital, medical group, nursing, emergency medicine, primary care, quality, finance, compliance, community, payer, and academic leaders. The objective is a coordinated continuum of care rather than a collection of independent programs.
