This 8-week locum assignment offers a flexible schedule, competitive compensation, and the opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving mental health outcomes.Assignment Details Location: Redding, CaliforniaStart Date: June 22, 2026Duration: 8 WeeksSchedule:1 day per week8-hour day shiftsFlexible scheduling: Work either one 8-hour shift or two 4-hour shiftsSetting: Correctional Health / County Jail Compensation & Benefits Weekly direct deposit payTravel & lodging arranged (if applicable)Licensing assistance availableReferral bonuses up to $1,000Dedicated recruiterFast credentialing processWhat You'll Do Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning for incarcerated patientsDevelop individualized, evidence-based treatment plansPrescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medicationsConduct medication management and follow-up evaluationsRespond to psychiatric emergencies including suicide risk, self-harm, and behavioral crisesCollaborate with physicians, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and correctional staffEducate healthcare teams and correctional personnel on mental health conditions and treatmentMaintain timely, accurate clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance activitiesProvide psychiatric consultation to medical staffSupervise Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs), psychologists, social workers, and behavioral health staffParticipate in staff education and training initiativesProvide telephone call coverage as needed for after-hours psychiatric careRequirements Board Certified or Board Eligible PsychiatristActive California medical license (or eligibility to obtain)DEA registrationExperience providing psychiatric care to adult patientsCorrectional or forensic psychiatry experience preferred but not requiredStrong clinical judgment and communication skillsClean NPDB and professional background preferredWhy You'll Love This LocationLocated in Northern California, Redding offers incredible access to outdoor adventure with nearby mountains, lakes, rivers, and hiking trails.
