Kennel HelperThe City of Jonesboro is seeking a part-time Kennel Helper to assist in our Animal Control Department. This safety sensitive (SS) position is responsible for the care and maintenance of the kennel area.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Cleaning and disinfecting kennels daily.Feeding and watering animals daily.Providing initial intake service on animals dip/bath daily.Preparing animals for adoption daily.Cleaning officer's trucks daily.Cleaning equipment such as cages, traps, travel kennels daily.Performing kennel maintenance and small repairs daily.Assisting Animal Control Officers in holding of animals for euthanasia as needed.Providing maintenance on grounds weekly.Operating a city vehicle for essential functions as needed.Performing any other related duties as required or assigned.Qualifications include:Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.Valid Driver's License.Vet. Tech. Lic., State of Ar. Euthanasia Certification, Nutrional Specialist, Animal 1st Responder.The job has minimal impact on the organization's end results and involves occasional routine contacts with persons outside the organization and others beyond immediate associates.
