Job description
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)Provides skilled physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) setting. Implements treatment plans to improve residents’ mobility, strength, balance, and functional abilities. Delivers direct therapy services such as therapeutic exercises, gait training, and balance activities. Observes and reports resident responses and progress to the supervising PT. Assists with resident assessments and contributes to documentation and care planning. Educates residents and caregivers on therapeutic exercises and safety techniques for use outside therapy sessions. Maintains accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records. Ensures proper use and maintenance of therapy equipment and assistive devices. Participates in team meetings and collaborates with interdisciplinary staff for coordinated resident care. Adheres to all regulatory, professional, and facility standards, and maintains required licensure and continuing education. Works primarily in a SNF/long-term care setting, requiring physical activity such as standing, lifting, and assisting residents. Functions as part of a collaborative, fast-paced interdisciplinary team.
