Job description
Physical Therapist AssistantProvide skilled physical therapy services to residents under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in a skilled nursing facility (SNF). Implement and carry out individualized treatment plans developed by the PT to address residents’ mobility, strength, balance, and functional needs. Deliver direct therapy services, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, and balance activities, ensuring safety and effectiveness. Observe residents’ responses to treatment, reporting progress and any changes in condition to the supervising PT. Assist with resident assessments and contribute to care planning and documentation as needed. Educate residents and caregivers on exercises and techniques to promote safety and independence outside therapy sessions. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record system. Ensure proper use and maintenance of therapy equipment and assistive devices. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and participate in team meetings to support coordinated resident care. Adhere to state, federal, and facility regulations as well as professional and ethical standards. Maintain current PTA licensure, continuing education, and up-to-date knowledge of best practices. Work in a collaborative, fast-paced SNF/long-term care environment, requiring physical activity such as standing, lifting, and assisting residents.
