Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the qualifying knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain these qualifications would be:PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER II (Range 750) $64,256 - $84,109 per year Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on the position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.Training and Experience Any combination of training and experience that provides the above listed knowledge, skills and abilities may qualify. A typical way of qualifying would be:Equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year of public safety dispatch experienceMust possess P.O.S.T. Public Safety Dispatcher Basic CertificateEmergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) Certification must be completed within one year of hirePossession of a Communications Training Officer Certificate from P.O.S.T. or willingness to attend a 40-hour Communications Training Officer course within 6 months of appointment to the position is requiredTyping speed 35wpmOther Requirements:Must be able to pass a background investigationMust be willing to work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts on a rotation basisMust be willing to be called back or held over to maintain minimum staffing levelsUpon conditional offer of employment, selected candidate(s) will be required to pass a physical and psychological evaluation.THE SELECTION PROCESS:Submit your application to the CityYou will also need a typing certification with a minimum 35 net words per minute. The City will honor an acceptable typing certificate dated within the last year from the following agencies: state, federal, municipal agency; temp agency; business schools or colleges; adult education centers; skills and business education centers.
