Python Application Engineer
Optomi, in partnership with a leading fintech company, is looking for a Python Application Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for building a custom framework using Python, focusing on backend development with FastAPI and Flask. The role involves developing scalable applications, deploying APIs to AWS, and orchestrating AWS services like step functions, ECS, and Lambda. A growth mindset and understanding of CI/CD pipelines are essential.

Experience of the right candidate:
Strong proficiency in Python
Object-oriented programming skills
Experience with FastAPI, Flask, and backend development
Ability to build APIs and deploy to AWS
Experience in AWS orchestration, step functions, ECS, lambda
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities of the right candidate:
Design and build custom Python-based frameworks for data ingestion, processing, and loading, with scalability in mind
Develop and maintain backend applications and APIs using FastAPI (and Flask) following object-oriented programming best practices
Deploy Python applications and APIs to AWS, using services such as Lambda, ECS, and Step Functions for orchestration xzgxqkn
Own the deployment lifecycle end to end, including building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, since there is no dedicated DevOps team
Apply core programming concepts and sound software design principles to create reusable, scalable, maintainable code
Collaborate with the team as it scales up, helping onboard, share knowledge, and keep standards consistent
Leverage agentic coding tools and Copilot AI to speed up development and improve code quality
Continuously learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and ways of working
