QA Supervisor - VAQA Supervisor leads and coordinates food safety and quality assurance (FSQA) program designed to ensure the safety and quality of products consistent with established standards for VA Plant and interacts with USDA/FSIS inspectors to maintain regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities:Suggest and plan an action for prevention and measures related to risks of quality managementEnsure all product specifications are met dailyCheck the quality of product and inspection of plant sanitationMaintain and supervise Pre-requisite Program calendar activities, verification, and validationConduct food safety, sanitation, pest control, GMP's, facility inspections, and internal auditsParticipate in internal and external food safety, quality, and regulatory auditsEnsure product labels are verified at every stage correctlyCoordinate FSQA required training plan with supervisors and address any lapses in trainingEnsure that all new specifications are distributed to all pertinent personnelReview products to ensure they meet internal and supplier specificationsMaintain all supplier documentation; letters of guarantee, audits, COA's, and supplier shelf-life lettersFollow and understand product recall/traceability proceduresCommunicate and coordinate effectively with all internal departmentsPlan and perform education related to quality assurance (GMP) and collaborate with HR on employee training and proceduresFollow and enforce all GMP and PPE procedures dailyFollow and enforce all food safety and quality rules and regulations requirementsOrganize and maintain filing of QA documentsHire and train new QA techs as neededMaintain QA techs work schedules (daily, weekly, and monthly), task assignments, and vacation coverageAdditional Responsibilities:Research and suggest paperless solutions for daily QA tasks and propose some optionsPerform other duties as assignedThe Company reserves the right to modify, add, or remove duties and responsibilities of this role as needed to meet business requirements.Qualifications:Required:3+ years of food safety role in the food manufacturing industryExperience and knowledge of food safety programs such as HACCP, Seafood HACCP, Food Defense, PCQI, Sanitation, SQF, and GMPEnglish and Spanish proficiency in both oral and writtenKnowledge of government regulations and role of FDA, USDA, Food Code & Crisis ManagementMS office and ERP proficiencyProblem identification and corrective action implementation skillsActively listens and communicates clearly and effectively in both verbal and written forms, adapting to the audience as neededAbility to perform accurate and efficient numerical calculationsTime management and task prioritization skillsConsistently produces accurate, thorough, and well-organized workMust have a hands-on work ethicStrong leadership skills to lead team and motivate employeesTraining and instructional delivery skillsAbility to work onsite (remote work is not an option)Flexible to work scheduled hours including evenings, weekends, and holidaysApplicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis at the time the employment begins and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization.Preferred:Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Biology, Chemistry, or related fieldCertification in HACCP, Seafood HACCP, Food Defense, PCQI, Sanitation, SQF and GMPWork Environment and Workplace:Work is primarily performed in an indoor environment, including office, laboratory, kitchen, manufacturing, and warehouse settingsThe role may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, regular exposure to conditions such as hot and cold temperatures, humidity, and confined spaces depending on job dutiesThe noise level in the work environment is typically moderateThe work environments may include exposure to food ingredients and cleaning agentsPhysical Requirement:To successfully perform the essential functions of this role, the employee must be able to:Must be able to remain in a stationary position and/or move for extended periodsSafely handle raw materials, ingredients, finished products, and packaging materials in a production settingLift, transport, maneuver materials, or equipment weighing up to approximately 25 poundsBend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently to access materials, equipment, and work areasMaintain visual acuity to read labels, monitors, safety indicators, and production instructionsCommunicate effectively using speech, written language, hearing, and visual observation in person, by phone, and via virtual platformsTravel Requirements:This position may require domestic travel (including by air and car)Benefits:401(k), 401(k) matchingDental/Medical, Vision insurance - 100% paid employee's premiumLife InsurancePaid Time Off
