Job description
Quality ControlThe QC is responsible and accountable for supporting the Alliance Steel Quality & Safety principles through monitoring and inspecting all products during the manufacturing cycle and prior to leaving the plant for delivery.Duties/Responsibilities:Read and interpret shop prints for your areaInspect the pieces in your areaEngage with the Welder/Fitter or Operator/Associate about issues and how to fixAnswer questions about code or policy/procedure (Tolerances)Fill out applicable documents (Examples: NCRs, Manifest, Safety Observation Cards, etc.) 100% and promptlyAdheres to company policyAdheres to attendance policyFollows safety criteria for assigned areasAny other duties assignedRequired Skills/Abilities:Minimum of 2 years' welding experience (CWI is not required)Be able to read a tape measure to 1/16th inch quickly & accuratelyUnderstanding or the overall operation of the entire plantRead and understand prints at a high level of expertiseAbility to coordinate your efforts with the Shop Supervisors to avoid work delaysMust be proficient with inspection toolsExcellent written and verbal skillsExcellent problem-solving skillsPerform other duties as assignedPreferences:Experience with AWS D1.1Previous weld inspectionPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds regularlyAbility to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
