Job description
Quality Control & Metallurgical ManagerYou will lead quality control and metallurgical functions for the plant. This role oversees inspection processes, ensures product quality meets specifications, and applies metallurgical expertise to support manufacturing, product performance, and continuous improvement.You will manage quality inspectors, establish standards, and act as the technical resource for materials, heat treatment, and product performance.Key ResponsibilitiesQuality LeadershipLead and supervise quality inspectors and inspection processesSet and maintain quality standards for raw materials, in-process, and finished goodsReview inspection results and address non-conformance issuesImplement corrective and preventive actionsMaintain documentation, records, and reporting for quality metricsEnsure compliance with internal standards and customer requirementsInspection OversightOversee measurement and testing of metal components using gauges and toolsEnsure proper use of inspection equipment such as calipers and micrometersTrain and guide employees on inspection methods and standardsAudit production processes to verify consistency and accuracyMetallurgical / Engineering SupportSelect materials and define specifications for steel and carbide productsAnalyze material performance and recommend improvementsSupport heat treatment, welding, forging, and fabrication processesInvestigate product failures and recommend solutionsPartner with engineering and production to improve product design and durabilityProcess ImprovementMonitor manufacturing processes to improve quality and efficiencyIdentify root causes of defects and implement corrective actionsDevelop and refine quality procedures and inspection plansSupport cost reduction and waste reduction initiativesCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with production, engineering, and sales teamsProvide technical support related to materials and product performanceAssist with customer inquiries or issues related to qualityQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field3+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or materials engineeringExperience with metal fabrication, steel, or carbide productsStrong understanding of quality control processes and inspection methodsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specificationsPreferredExperience in mining, tooling, or heavy manufacturingKnowledge of heat treatment and welding processesPrior leadership or supervisory experienceFamiliarity with continuous improvement methodsSkillsStrong problem solving and root cause analysisAttention to detail and accuracyAbility to lead and develop a teamEffective communication across departmentsWorking knowledge of inspection tools and measurement systemsWork EnvironmentIndustrial manufacturing setting with exposure to heat, noise, and moving equipmentRequires use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protectionAbility to work on the production floor as neededPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and move throughout the facilityLift up to 23 kg with assistance or equipmentFrequent use of hands for tools and inspection devices
