Job description

SRG is seeking a Quality Engineer with significant experience with GD&T to support and improve quality systems, manufacturing processes, and product performance within a complex steel fabrication environment serving the agricultural equipment industry. This position acts as the primary salaried quality resource within the facility, partnering closely with production, engineering, and management teams to identify quality concerns, implement corrective actions, improve manufacturing processes, and ensure customer expectations are met. The role offers a highly visible opportunity for an engineer who enjoys both hands-on manufacturing support and technical problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Engineering & Process Improvement

Analyze manufacturing and quality processes to identify opportunities for improvements in quality, cost, throughput, safety, and efficiency.

Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address recurring quality concerns.

Lead root cause investigations utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies.

Establish acceptance criteria for products, materials, tooling, equipment, and manufacturing processes.

Design and conduct controlled experiments to validate process improvements.

Monitor quality performance metrics and recommend actions to improve results.

Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

Manufacturing Support

Serve as the primary quality engineering resource supporting daily manufacturing operations.

Spend significant time on the production floor assisting operators, inspectors, and supervisors.

Work closely with manufacturing personnel to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve product and process issues.

Support implementation and sustainment of manufacturing process improvements.

Assist in evaluating manufacturability of new products and process changes.

Documentation & Quality Systems

Create, maintain, and revise work instructions, technical documentation, and process standards.

Support internal quality systems and maintain compliance with ISO requirements.

Ensure inspections, procedures, and documentation remain current and accurate.

Assist in maintaining quality records and supporting audits as required.

Problem Solving & Customer Support

Investigate customer, supplier, and internal quality concerns.

Coordinate containment, corrective actions, and long-term preventive solutions.

Serve as a technical liaison between production, engineering, suppliers, and customers.

Support internal inspectors and operators with inspections and quality-related decision making.

Training & Technical Support

Provide guidance and support to employees at all levels of the organization.

Assist in training personnel on quality requirements, inspection techniques, and process standards.

Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.

Minimum 2 years of manufacturing and/or quality experience, internships considered for strong recent graduates.

GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) training and proficiency.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.

Experience conducting root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and build relationships across departments.

Preferred

Metal fabrication manufacturing experience.

Agricultural equipment manufacturing experience.

CMM experience.

Inspection and metrology experience.

CAD exposure or willingness to learn.

Understanding of ISO quality systems.

Proven project management capability.

Leadership potential and ability to influence without formal authority.
