Job description
Quality TechnicianThe Quality Technician inspects incoming materials and components, programs and operates coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and supports the development and improvement of inspection methodologies within an ISO 9001 quality management system. This role works closely with Engineering to ensure products meet stringent dimensional, cleanliness, and electro-static discharge (ESD) requirements, while accurately documenting inspection results and contributing to continuous improvement of quality standards.ResponsibilitiesInspect incoming materials and parts from suppliers using visual and mechanical inspection tools, ensuring they meet all specified requirements.Review and verify First Article Inspection (FAI) reports from suppliers, confirming compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.Program inspection routines on CMM equipment, including setup and execution of measurement programs.Work closely with Engineering to develop, refine, and modify inspection methodologies for new and existing products.Use conventional and advanced inspection devices and methods to verify dimensions against engineering drawings and specifications.Create and maintain standards for inspection processes and author clear, detailed quality inspection reports.Record inspection results, measurement data, and related information accurately in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS).Set up and perform inspections on intricate components with tight tolerances, ensuring consistent and repeatable results.Interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and other design documents to determine inspection criteria and methods.Handle and inspect parts in a Class 1,000 (ISO Class 6) cleanroom environment while following all cleanroom protocols.Handle electro-static sensitive (ESD) components properly to prevent damage and ensure product integrity.Apply and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering drawings and inspection plans.Use MS Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, to document inspection data and prepare reports.Manage and organize inspection data using appropriate software tools for inspection data management.Work independently with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams by communicating inspection findings and quality issues clearly.Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 quality systems and internal QMS procedures during all inspection activities.Essential SkillsProficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), including interpretation and application on engineering drawings.Experience with CMM inspection utilizing PC-DMIS software.Ability to program and run CMM equipment for complex and intricate components with tight tolerances.Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and other design documents for inspection purposes.Hands-on experience with visual inspection techniques and mechanical measuring tools such as gages and other conventional inspection devices.Knowledge and practical understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems and QMS procedures.Ability to handle parts in a Class 1,000 (ISO Class 6) cleanroom environment while following strict protocols.Ability to properly handle electro-static sensitive (ESD) components.Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all inspection tasks.Computer skills and familiarity with software tools used for inspection data management.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience using advanced inspection devices and methods in addition to conventional tools.Experience editing engineering drawings and designs for GD&T compliance.Familiarity with CMM programming software such as PC-DMIS and Calypso.Experience with calibration activities related to inspection equipment and gages.Experience in quality inspection, quality assurance, and incoming inspections.Experience creating inspection standards and authoring formal quality reports.Comfort working within an established Quality Management System and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.Interest in ongoing training and skills development, supported by a company that invests in training the right person.Work EnvironmentThis role is primarily based in a Class 1,000 (ISO Class 6) cleanroom environment, where the Quality Technician spends most of the day following all cleanroom protocols. The position involves regular standing, walking, bending, squatting, and kneeling while performing inspections and handling components. The role requires the ability to grasp, lift, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Some portion of the day is spent working at a computer to program CMM equipment, manage inspection data, and prepare reports using MS Office and other software tools. The environment is dynamic and fast paced, with a strong focus on precision, cleanliness, and adherence to quality and ESD handling procedures.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Bedford, MA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $ - $ /yr.
