nThe Opportunity

nOur Property & Casualty (P&C) Risk team is seeking a Quantitative Risk Analyst Lead to leverage advanced analytics, actuarial principles, and risk management expertise to influence critical business decisions. This role is ideal for a quantitative professional who thrives at the intersection of data, risk, and strategy. The successful candidate will develop, validate, and challenge complex models supporting pricing, reserving, capital risk, forecasting, and overall risk management activities. Working closely with business partners and senior leadership, you will identify emerging risks, evaluate market trends, and provide actionable insights that enhance business performance while ensuring sound risk practices.

nThis position requires a highly analytical and self-directed professional with a strong foundation in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related quantitative discipline. Candidates should bring experience independently sourcing, validating, and analyzing large datasets to support risk assessments, pricing decisions, and strategic forecasting efforts. Preferred candidates will possess actuarial credentials such as ACAS designation or equivalent advanced quantitative expertise, along with hands-on experience validating go-to-market pricing strategies, conducting rate trend analyses, and communicating complex findings to both technical and executive audiences. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex initiatives, influence enterprise-wide risk decisions, and serve as a trusted advisor within a fast-paced and highly collaborative risk organization.

nWe offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Charlotte, NC

nnnApplies expert analytical knowledge to utilize advanced analytics to assess future risk and/or new risks, opportunities, and effectiveness.

nnTranslates results into meaningful solutions to enhance decision making.

nnPresents findings to senior level leadership.

nnApplies expert knowledge and industry best practices to quantify risk and aggregate exposures.

n

nnDevelops complex systems and programs that measure aggregate risk exposures.

n

nnPerforms model validations and presents results to senior leadership.

n

nnApplies innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make recommendations to answer business objectives and drive change.

n

nnTranslates recommendations into communication materials to effectively present to senior leadership.

n

nnRecommendations typically have a major impact on business results.

n

nnProvides subject matter expertise in operationalizing recommendations.

n

nnApplies expert knowledge to produce advanced analytical material to lead discussions with cross functional teams and senior leadership to understand complex business objectives and influence solution strategies.

nnDemonstrates thought leadership in cross functional team environments.

nnDrives and creates cross functional teams in support of initiatives that have significant impact to the enterprise or a core business area.

n

nnProvides direction and mentorship to other team members in the peer review process.

nnExpertly communicates analytical results, findings and solutions to governance committees and business process owners and influences business analysis.

n nWhat you have:

nnBachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Actuarial Sciences, or quantitative field; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.

n nExperiences that will support your success:

nnn8 years of related quantitative analysis experience in a discipline relevant to risk management to include statistical analysis, modeling, mathematics or other quantitative discipline.

n

nnOR advanced degree/designation in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative discipline and 6 years work experience in a quantitative discipline relevant to risk management.

n

nnOR PhD in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative discipline and up to 4 years work experience in a quantitative discipline relevant to risk management.

n

n nWhat sets you apart:

nnnUS military experience gained through military service or gained as a military spouse / domestic partner

n

nnAdvanced Quantitative Risk Analytics Expertise - Demonstrated experience developing, validating, and challenging quantitative models supporting pricing, reserving, capital risk, forecasting, and risk management decisions within financial services or insurance environments.

n

nnActuarial or Advanced Analytical Credentials - ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society), or equivalent advanced quantitative, actuarial, statistics, mathematics, economics, or data science background.

n

nnData Management and Independent Analytical Capability - Proven ability to independently source, manipulate, validate, and analyze large and complex datasets, leveraging analytical tools to produce actionable risk insights and business recommendations.

n

nnPricing Strategy and Forecasting Experience - Experience evaluating pricing strategies, validating go-to-market pricing decisions, conducting rate trend analysis, and developing forecasts that influence business performance and risk outcomes.

n

nnExecutive Communication and Risk Governance Skills - Demonstrated ability to translate complex quantitative analyses into clear, concise presentations, business routines, and formal risk memorandums for executive leadership, governance committees, regulators, and other internal and external stakeholders.

n

n nCompensation range: The salary range for this position is: $143,320 - $273,930 .

nCompensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

nEmployees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
