Job description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
nUnder the direct supervision of registered Radiation Therapists, administers radiation treatments to patients, as prescribed by the physician, utilizing specialized equipment including Linear Accelerators and Computed Tomography.
nRadiation Therapists are responsible for administering radiation therapy by exposing specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation.
nResponsibilities:

n nPrepares and positions patients and selects anatomic parameters accurately.
nnnnnDelivers appropriate patient treatment plan in collaboration with physician and dosimetrist.

nnnnMaintains detailed records of all therapy sessions.

nnnnMaintains and adjusts necessary equipment, including linear accelerator.
n n
nnnnPositions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
n n
nnnnEnsures all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
n n
nnnnEnsures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
n n
nnnnAssists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.

n nEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
nnnHigh School Diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a two-year college or technical school degree program in Radiation Therapy is required.

nnAssociate's degree/Technical degree OR
n
nn4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
n
nnGraduate of an accredited school of radiation therapy
n
nnVarian/ARIA experienced preferred
n
n nCERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
nnnBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification
n
nnRadiologic Technologist specializing in Radiation Therapy credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
n
nnMedical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
