Assists with treatment simulations and tumor localization with the guidance of the Radiation Oncologist and Dosimetrist.Job DescriptionJob DutiesDelivers Radiation therapy treatmentAssist with CT simulationsConstructs cerrobend electron blocksPerforms verification simulation on treatment machineCompletes and maintains treatment schedulePerforms weekly chart reviewsAssist with HDR procedures if neededPerforms initial chart reviewFollows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust have a solid understanding of the technical aspects of radiation therapy treatment administration.Must be able to communicate well with patients and their families and other members of the health care team.Must have a good working knowledge of radiation safety issues.Must be proficient on the treatment machines within 6 months of hire.Professional ExperienceMinimum of 1 year experience in radiation oncology preferred.EducationCertified as a Radiation Therapist by ARRT or board eligible for certificationLicensure, Certification, RegistrationIowa Department of Public Health licensure requiredIowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required.
