Reading Intervention Teacher
The Del Mar Union School District is seeking a credentialed teacher to serve as a Reading Intervention Teacher. In this role, teachers design and deliver Tier 2 small group intervention for students in grades K-6 who need reading support in foundational skills. They also provide short-term support for students learning English at the Novice level. This position is anticipated to range from 20-22 hours per week, depending on the number of English learners requiring support. Up to six additional hours will be scheduled monthly for team meetings and professional learning. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Analyze and interpret student data to identify and monitor students requiring individual/group Tier 2 instruction
Provide short-term instruction to English learners at the Novice level
Develop and provide lessons and activities in alignment with student needs
Utilize appropriate supplemental materials
Utilize strategies to encourage students to be motivated and engaged
Keep appropriate records of each student's progress
Attend professional learning to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content
Work collaboratively with other reading intervention teachers
Perform other duties as assigned related to the intervention program
Certifications/Experience
Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Valid CA Multiple Subject Credential, with CLAD certification or equivalent
At least 1-2 years of successful classroom teaching experience is preferred
Knowledge/training in effective instructional approaches for reading
