Job description
Registration SpecialistThis role supports a busy Primary Care Residency Clinic with approximately 70 providers at various stages of training and development. The clinic serves up to 220 patients per day, requiring a highly organized, customer-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.As a Registration Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and play a critical role in ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate registration, and optimal clinical and financial outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesCheck in patients and facilitate patient flow from entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional mannerVerify and update insurance, demographic, and financial informationManage medical records, scanning forms, referrals, DME, and Luma-related tasksEnter and validate charges in appropriate systems and collect required paymentsSchedule appointments and interview patients to obtain necessary medical informationExplain departmental and hospital charges, policies, and proceduresAnswer incoming calls and direct patients and visitors appropriatelySupport high-volume clinic operations (up to 220 patients per day)Collaborate closely with providers and staff in a team-based environmentSkills for SuccessExperience with Cerner (preferred)Prior medical or healthcare experience strongly preferredKnowledge of insurance verification and coverage interpretationStrong computer skills; ability to quickly learn new systemsWillingness to learn, adapt, and assist where neededAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume settingExcellent communication, organization, and customer service skillsEducation & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredRelevant experience in a healthcare setting preferredAbility to learn and retain medical coding conceptICD-10 and CPT knowledge preferredFamiliarity with medical terminology and clinical workflows preferredBasic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Onboarding & TrainingOnboarding will include a combination of virtual training classes and hands-on, on-the-job trainingOngoing support provided by a collaborative and experienced teamTeam CultureWe are a close-knit, supportive team that works well together and values collaboration, flexibility, and mutual support in delivering excellent patient care.
