Job description
Program & Location: Monarch House - New Bedford, MA
Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
Pay Range : $19-$24/hr
Status: Per Diem, Weekends are required
Shifts: 7am-3:30pm, 3pm-11:30pm, or 11pm-7:30am; must also be available to pick up shifts as needed

About Us
SEMCOA's (Southeast Massachusetts Council on Advocacy) mission is to advocate for andprovidesupport to individuals, families, and communities in the areas of substance use, mental illness, domestic violence, homelessness, and parenting. SEMCOA operatesfour emergencyassistancecongregate family shelters and additional scattered sitesthat provide supportive services to families andassistthem with securing permanent housing.SEMCOA also provides residential recovery home treatment to individuals with substance use disorders, as well as transitional and permanent housing stability and support programs.Our portfolio also includes two graduate sober houses, the Family Preservation Program, as well as Greater Brockton and Greater Attleboro Taunton Healthy Families programs.
Recovery Specialist Requirements
TB Screening
CPR Certification
Confidentiality training (42 CFR, Part2 and 45 CFR parts 160 & 164 HIPAA)
Therapeutic Boundaries Training

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Recovery Specialist Duties & Responsibilities
Compliance with Federal Regulations regarding 42 CFR Part 2; Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder and HIPAA Regulations
Reviews and adheres to posted shift assignment at the start of shift
Observation and accounting of allpatientsat all timesto ensure safety, entering findings of patient status into the EHR at a minimum of hourly
Monitor the milieu including bathrooms and group room for safe,cleanand therapeutic environmentathourlyand/or as needed
Understanding of emergency procedures and codesand remain calm in a crisis
Maintain therapeutic boundaries by setting limits and enforcing rules in a respectful manner
Perform roominspections per policyand bag searches when directed
Ensure the unit is neat and clean, performing end of shift duties tomaintaina therapeutic environmentfor patients and staff, and restocksupplies as needed.
Attends Supervision with assigned supervisor twice monthly and/or as needed based on status or concernsand attend mandatory meetings
Perform any otherduties asassigned by Recovery Specialist Supervisor, Nursing Staff, Nurse Manager, Program/Site Director, DON, COO.
Recovery Specialist - Residential Services Duties & Responsibilities
Complete urine drug screens and breathalyzers whenindicated;
Perform andobservemedication self-administration;
Conduct room and bag searches whenindicated;
Facilitate assigned groups and enter notes intoEHR
Transportation of residents, if applicable (policy and documentation must be complete);
Process new patient admission including the EHR process, an inventory and documentation of clothing, electronic and valuablesand other forms as directed
Be familiar with BSAS regulation and adhere to the rights of patients as defined by DPH Patient Rights Standards (105 CMR 164.079)
Assist in verbal de-escalation and patient centered behavioral interventions with residents and provide crisis intervention as appropriate
Recovery Specialist Qualifications
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent GED, preferred.
One year of experience in substance use/behavioral health field is preferred but not required.
